Technically there is precedent for a gamble on a musician as actor playing musician in Dexter Gordon in Round Midnight, though technically not a bio pic. Obviously a studio with some large appendages would be required for such a gamble!
Ah yes. But as Don Cheadle said in that weird story about the Miles “gangster”...

atane replied to your post: Hello! re: Monk movie - ...
Last I heard, Don Cheadle said the Miles movie is going to be a gangster film - Details here guardian.co.uk/music/2… - I gave up interest after that.
Don Cheadle must be high:
It’s an intriguing notion: taking the facts of Davis’s life and remixing them. “Without throwing history away, we’re trying to shuffle it...
atane asked: Hello! re: Monk movie - Yes, that is a big question. I just always felt that Parker was Monk's doppelganger. Of course, that doesn't mean he can act, or he would want to! lol

Well of course I woke up with a sore throat:
My work on the Co-Production Market has finished and the BIG party is tonight … It’s weird the way my body always seems to know just how long I need to hold out, and then collapses the minute the deadline/pressure has passed.
But it’s mind over matter here at Work/Party Machine headquarters. This morning I’m going to check out Books at Berlinale, a presentation of books...

Anyone who digs Binoche has exquisite taste. If you’re gonna stalk, aim high I say! ;) Looks like you’ve been having fun at Berlinale though!
Thanks Darling! It has been a blast. I’m exhausted tonight after a day that began at 6 this morning and was busy until 7 pm. The Berlinale is a blast, particularly...

Co-Production Market
The afternoon will be spent helping to set up for the Co-Production Market, which begins tomorrow. I would be excited, were it not for the fact that I know the market will be a lot of work and perhaps just a tad stressful.
Representatives for the film projects (28) in the catalogue I worked on will be meeting on Sunday and Monday with potential financiers and co-producers (about 400) in a series...

A film about prostitutes . . .
… is bound to have some sex scenes. Am I right or am I right? [Yes, I’m drenched in The Singing Detective at the moment.]
In any case, if you don’t like seeing sex portrayed on the big screen, you don’t go to see movies in which the likelihood of sex happening is fairly high. Films about prostitutes would have to be somewhere near the top of any such list. Okay in this...

Ja, es ist klar. Und das gute. That’s all my German, but it sounds like a heavenly day. Two smiles from a favorite, getting to stay the whole time, and remembering not to pick your nose. Well done! I’m up for plenty of film talk.

I love Mike Leigh’s work and he’s the head of the jury this year. Other jury members include Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jake Gyllenhaal, François Ozon,...

A mysterious Russian street artist is being compared to Britain’s Banksy, with his graffiti stencils selling for hundreds of thousands of pounds.
The Russian’s guerilla artworks range from intricate spray-paintings, to complex combinations of fire, music and video.
Like Banksy, he refuses to reveal his true identity, but the man who calls himself “Pavel 183” did agree...

Important story from Ian Cobain - a must-read
Well, I probably should have skipped this one just like I did the BYU clip. But like Atane, I am sometimes a glutton for punishment … which seems an unbelievably poor choice of words given this:
Over the years that followed, the unit changed its name again, to Task Force 6-26, and later to Task Force 145, possibly in an attempt...

It’s awful. I couldn’t make myself reblog it. Just uggh. Ignorance is not bliss.
I’m hoping the clip will get back to wherever it is in Nigeria that they have their megachurches …

High blood pressure? Then definitely don’t watch it! Stay in a happy place, or like our friend Aura-Dynamo likes to say “Coast”. I’m coasting with some quesadillas right now! :D
Yeah, it’s under control with medication, but I don’t want to upset my system unnecessarily ;-)

atane asked: re: Missionaries. Very true. A lot has changed in the last 20 years. One example is the LDS and wealthy Mormons now building temples and propping up mega churches in many towns, expanding their ideology. They didn't even allow black people to hold positions in their church until recently because "blacks bear the mark of Cain" and are cursed in their opinion. Since they have money,...
